The original Gargin project is listed for Minecraft Java 1.19.3 with Forge. It is the right reference point if your goal is the original release rather than a later community adaptation.

Fabric port track
Separate Fabric ports exist for players whose modpack or server uses Fabric. These are not simply “Fabric downloads” of the same original file; they are distinct projects and can have their own dependency and configuration requirements.
Evolved and modern port track
Cave Dweller Evolved added changes and later became the basis for additional port work. A 2026 community port lists newer Minecraft branches, including 1.20.1, 1.21.x and 26.x, with Fabric and NeoForge coverage depending on the exact file.
How to choose
- Read the Minecraft version shown in your launcher.
- Identify your loader: Forge, Fabric or NeoForge.
- Select a project that explicitly supports both.
- Open its file page and check required dependencies.
- Only then download the matching release.
Version naming can be confusing
Files named around the same creature can be forks, ports, texture changes or completely separate reinterpretations. Do not mix dependencies from one project with binaries from another unless the project author explicitly instructs you to.
